Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about DTF gang sheet nesting, white halos, and heat pressing.

What is a DTF Gang Sheet and how does it save money?

A DTF (Direct-to-Film) gang sheet is a continuous roll of transfer film (usually 22 or 24 inches wide) on which multiple different graphics, sizes, and logos are grouped tightly together. Instead of ordering single individual transfers, printing in gang sheets reduces waste and slashes the transfer cost from $8-$12 down to $1-$3 per shirt.

Why does my DTF print have an ugly white border or glue halo on dark shirts?

This happens because raster artwork exported from Photoshop, Canva, or Procreate often has anti-aliased, semi-transparent pixels around edges or inside drop shadows. DTF RIP software treats any pixel with greater than 0% opacity as solid artwork and prints 100% opaque white ink behind it. The white hot-melt adhesive powder then sticks to these pixels, leaving a visible, crusty white film on black or dark garments. Our Ghost Pixel Cleaner tool fixes this by making edge transitions clean and binary.

What is the recommended gap between logos on a DTF gang sheet?

Always leave at least 0.25 to 0.35 inches (6 to 9 mm) between designs. This gives you enough clearance to quickly cut out individual logos with shears or a rotary cutter without accidentally snipping into neighboring graphics.

What heat press temperature and time should I use for DTF transfers?

For 100% Cotton (e.g. Bella+Canvas, Gildan): Press at 305°F–315°F (150°C–157°C) for 15 seconds with medium-high pressure. Wait until completely cool (cold peel) or lukewarm, peel the PET film smoothly, then do a second 5-second post-press with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet to matte down the texture.
